Dr. Gschwend grew up in central Illinois. He completed his Bachelor of Science degrees at the University of Illinois and Johns Hopkins University. He graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago and did residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Dr. Gschwend has been in practice in Bethesda since 1990 and specializes in minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery and practices obstetrics. He is Chief of the OB-GYN Quality Assurance Committee at Sibley Memorial, board certified and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Recently he was listed as one of the areas Top Doctors by the Washingtonian Magazine. Dr. Gschwend is married, has two children and 2 granddaughters.
